My big brother has flown away for a new job in Australia. I am now the only child of my parents left living in Samoa. A while back, when my brother was first offered his new position, he came to see me. To ask, CAN YOU LOOK AFTER MUM WHEN I GO?
Me – Of course I can!
And he said, but you’re going to have to take her to church on Sunday.
Me, hmmm that’s a tough one – Can I drop her off at the door? Do I have to go inside? Fine, I’ll take her but I’m not going in.
😇🤪
Then he said, you have to help her put on her shoes for church. Because you know she has all those fancy shoes that she can’t actually put on by herself.
Me, waving my hand – That’s nonsense. She shouldn’t wear shoes if she can’t put them on. Its dangerous and foolish. I will change that when you go. When I’M in charge! #boss
Fast forward to today. Did I drive her to church? Yes. Did I go inside and attend Sacrament meeting, for the first time in 5 years? Yes. And did I help her put on her glorious red cowboy boots? Then help her take them off after church? Yes.
