Va – Stories by Women of the Moana

When I was a kid growing up in Samoa, there were no Samoan or Oceania fantasy novels, no Young Adult series set in Samoa or anywhere in Pasifika, no Samoan speculative fiction, no Samoa/Pasifika zombie apocalypse stories, no Samoa chick lit /romance.

And now there are. 😉😍

I am glad and #blessed to be a part of making that change. We need heaps more books from us though. Of all genres. Stories of many kinds, from many different Oceania storytellers.

Which is why I’m extra excited for this anthology Va. From Samoa, to Fiji, Tonga, Hawaii, Vanuatu, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Torres Strait Islands, to Aotearoa, Guam, and many more…I am so honored to have a few of my stories stand alongside those of my sister-writers of the Moana.

As one of the editors, alongside Sisilia Eteuati, I got to read their stories before you do, and it’s been a richly satisfying and often quite moving experience.
I’m excited for this book and I hope you are too.
